The Melaka state government is now coming up with a new initiative, namely offering email services to the residents of Melaka, under an initiative called People's Email. Through it, Melaka residents can register for free emails with the @melaka.my suffix, and use them in communication between state governments.
Using this People's Email service, users can send and receive emails, manage address books, access calendars, and store documents on the storage space offering up to 1GB. This service was also introduced with the aim of increasing people's access to official digital communication channels.
For the initial stage, this People's Email is aimed at parents of Melaka State students, KAFA teachers, Asnaf MAIM recipients and also heads of households in the Digital Village System. The state government is also targeting "One Home, One People's Email".
So far, it is said that 203,000 emails have been registered, and more than 193,000 are students and teachers in the state. It is targeted to have 250,000 email accounts registered by the end of 2026. For registration, priority is given to MyKad owners with state code 04. At the moment, it appears that registration for the @melaka.my email is not being offered publicly anymore.
