Microsoft is ready to lay off a number of employees, and not only that, they are now also taking several steps to save costs. One of them is to switch to using their own model, replacing the use of OpenAI or Anthropic models.
According to reports, Microsoft has started using their own model called MAI in several office software such as Microsoft Excel and Word, where when users make a query or command, it will use the MAI model instead of OpenAI or Anthropic as before.
Microsoft is said to be testing this change on a small number of users. With this step, it allows Microsoft to prepare for a full transition to their model, and get early feedback on the use of MAI in their products. This will also reduce the outflow of money that needs to be paid for licensing purposes and the use of other artificial intelligence service tokens.
For now, Microsoft has not issued any further comments on this matter. Microsoft was initially among those who emphasized the CoPilot offering, but it is seen to be lagging behind
