Following up on previous reports, the National Registration Department (JPN) has issued an official statement confirming that it has held engagement sessions with eKYC service providers and relevant agencies; it noted that these providers are currently updating their systems to support the new-generation MyKad.
Malaysia introduced the new-generation MyKad last week, featuring a fresh design and a range of improved features. However, some eKYC systems used by mobile applications and financial services have not yet been updated to accommodate these changes.
JPN stated that it has provided the necessary information and is monitoring the update implementation to accelerate the system adaptation process. The department also encourages users to consult the relevant institutions or service providers regarding alternative verification methods while these entities carry out their respective system updates.
