Suunto has officially launched the Suunto Run 2, a new generation of smartwatches designed specifically for marathon runners. The model comes with several key improvements including a clearer display, longer battery life and more accurate sensors to support running performance.
The Suunto Run 2 comes with a thin and light body weighing only 35 grams and 11.7 millimeters thick. It is equipped with a 1.32-inch AMOLED screen that offers a peak brightness of 2000 nits, which is three times brighter than the previous model. The watch also uses advanced sensors with 12 new channels that provide more accurate readings even during intensive training.
In addition, the Suunto Run 2 offers a variety of smart training functions designed to support the needs of runners at every level. Energy Sense allows users to assess current energy levels against remaining capacity, while Live Finish Prediction provides an estimated finish time based on current speed. Training Plan helps runners achieve specific goals such as a sub-four-hour marathon. Marathon Mode comes with Ghost Runner features and various race focus support designed to help runners maintain their best performance throughout training sessions and competitions.
Suunto Run 2 also receives an upgrade to the navigation system with support for more accurate dual-band GNSS sensors (L1 and L5). It supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS networks. At the same time, users can download free global maps to use directly from the watch, which is useful for running in the city or on the trail.
The battery capacity provided allows daily use for up to 10 days or up to a day when dual-band GNSS is activated. In terms of entertainment, Suunto Run 2 supports music and podcast storage that can be played using audio accessories. The selling price is set at AUD 249 (~RM732) but the launch date in Malaysia has not yet been confirmed.
