At the Redmi Note 17 Pro launch event, Xiaomi Malaysia also shared about their electric cars. Since 2024, the SU7 sedan electric car has been marketed, followed by the PU7 rugged electric car. Both car models are currently sold in China and have successfully sold over 700,000 units.
This figure is a big number considering that Xiaomi is not an automotive brand. Sharing more about it, Xiaomi also emphasized the ecosystem they have created, connecting People, Vehicles and Homes. This is because Xiaomi also sells smart home devices through their Mijia product line, including refrigerators, vacuum robots, washing machines, internet-connected electrical appliances and many more.
Currently, Xiaomi's electric car is still not offered for the local market. However, there are reports that they will expand their electric car offerings to the global market. Perhaps they are just waiting for the suitability and availability of chargers in other countries before starting to penetrate the local market.
