AMD FSR 4.1 Being Rolled Out to ASUS ROG Ally X and Ally X20 Owners

Both the ASUS ROG Ally X and Ally X20 consoles are powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor—a chip specifically designed for handheld PC gaming consoles. While these devices offer solid performance, they have previously lagged slightly behind due to the lack of support for newer AMD Radeon technologies, such as the company’s latest FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) iteration.

Although the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip had not received any major software-based technological updates for some time, it has now been confirmed that these ASUS ROG consoles have begun receiving support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 4.1. This allows owners to play PC games at higher resolutions, with better settings, and at higher refresh rates.

Owners can check for this update via the Armoury Crate SE application; reports indicate that many users have already received it. FSR 4.1 has been tailored for the ASUS ROG Ally X and Ally X20, optimized for significantly lower power consumption. Once updated, the settings to enable FSR 4.1 can be accessed through the Armoury Crate SE software.

However, ASUS has cautioned that this update is currently being introduced as a "preview update" and is not yet considered an "official" release. Nevertheless, it is technically compatible with the more than 300 PC games that support FSR 4.0, and should function without any major issues.
