Honor Malaysia and UPSI Collaborate to Cultivate New Talent in the Field of AI

Honor Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has strengthened its commitment to developing local talent in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) to establish the HONOR AI Lab.

The laboratory serves as a center for education, research, and innovation in AI. It functions as a hub for academic and industry-related activities, including workshops, professional certification programs, industrial training, and innovation competitions. Furthermore, the lab provides access to industry-grade AI computing equipment, while also facilitating student exchange opportunities and strengthening ties between the university and the industry.

The establishment of the HONOR AI Lab positions UPSI as a public university committed to advancing the field of AI, in line with national aspirations to bolster the digital economy and cultivate local tech talent. For students, the lab offers a blend of theoretical learning and industry experience through projects, training, and certifications. This practical exposure not only hones technical skills but also fosters the development of soft skills and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Lecturers and researchers also gain access to cutting-edge technology and can enhance their teaching capabilities through collaboration with industry experts. This two-year agreement is expected to act as a catalyst for the development of an AI ecosystem in Malaysia. In the long term, this model could serve as a benchmark for other universities and contribute to the creation of a highly skilled workforce, supporting Malaysia’s goal of becoming a regional technology hub.
