Starting today, the Disney+ app in Malaysia has transitioned to the global version, replacing the previous Disney+ Hotstar version. With this new app, users in Malaysia can stream Disney+ using their accounts even when abroad—a feature not available since the service's 2021 launch.
For those who have not yet switched to the new app, the old version remains usable only until November 4, 2026; access to content will cease on November 5. The new app is already available for download on Android, iOS, Google TV, tvOS, and Tizen devices, having been released around midday today.
The new app features an interface consistent with the global version and simplifies content discovery. The top main menu categorizes content into recommendations, Disney+, and Hulu, while the left-hand menu provides shortcuts for series, movies, and favorites.
Please note that usage history and existing profiles will not be transferred when switching to the new app. Therefore, you should make a note of where you left off in any series, as that information will no longer be accessible after November 5.
