Google develops its own proprietary chips, utilizing them not only in its own hardware products but also within its data centers and for its generative artificial intelligence service offerings. It has long been speculated that Google might generate a portion of its revenue by selling these chips to third parties, thereby competing with other providers such as NVIDIA.
Most recently, it has been reported that OpenAI plans to purchase chips developed by Google for use in its own offerings. This move would further expand the collaboration between OpenAI and Google, following the earlier integration of OpenAI’s models onto the Google Cloud platform.
As of now, neither party has provided an official comment regarding this matter.
Previously, Anthropic also began sourcing chips from Google for its own offerings, and there are rumors that Meta may follow a similar path.
