SoftBank Group, Grab, and PETROS (Petroleum Sarawak Berhad) have signed a framework agreement to explore the development of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and a digital ecosystem in Sarawak. The three parties will collaborate to develop a phased roadmap for AI platforms and digital infrastructure within the state.
This partnership examines opportunities across the entire AI value chain, including AI processing power, AI services, robotics, cutting-edge technologies, local workforce development, and community development.
SoftBank will provide expertise in AI, advanced computing, semiconductors, and physical AI. Grab contributes its experience within the Southeast Asian digital ecosystem, practical AI capabilities, and a regional network of customers and business partners. Finally, PETROS contributes its expertise in Sarawak’s energy sector, energy supply development, and supporting infrastructure through the Sarawak Gas Roadmap and the Kuching Low-Carbon Hub (KLCH).
The collaboration aims to position Sarawak as a premier destination for AI infrastructure and high-value technology industries.
