The Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming service is not entirely new; however, until now, it has only been available as part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription plan. Microsoft is now set to offer this video game streaming service as a standalone, time-based subscription.
While this subscription model officially launches in November 2026, members of the Xbox Insider program can gain access starting today. Users can pay for access based on the duration of play: the most affordable option is $3.99 for 10 hours of gameplay, followed by $7.99 for 25 hours, and $11.99 for 50 hours.
Existing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will receive 15 hours of complimentary gameplay, with the option to purchase additional time if needed. Subscribers to Game Pass Premium and Game Pass Essential will also receive 10 hours and 5 hours of free gameplay, respectively.
This subscription allows owners of older consoles, such as the Microsoft Xbox One, to play the latest titles—games that would otherwise be exclusive to the newer Xbox Series X and S consoles.
Microsoft explains that this streaming service is being separated into its own distinct subscription tier because of its growing user base, alongside the rising costs associated with maintaining the cloud infrastructure.
Microsoft has also indicated that further announcements regarding additional gameplay time, supported video games, and expansion into new markets will be made this coming November.
