The video game *PUBG: Battlegrounds* is set to be adapted into a TV series for Netflix. The announcement was made today, revealing that Donald Glover will serve as producer, writer, and director, in addition to starring in the series. He is joined by his brother, Stephen Glover—with whom he previously co-produced the TV series *Atlanta*.
No release date has been announced for when the *PUBG* series will premiere on Netflix. It joins a growing list of video game adaptations on the platform, following *Splinter Cell*, *Devil May Cry*, and *League of Legends*. In addition to *PUBG*, series based on *Gears of War* and *Assassin’s Creed* are also headed to Netflix. Having long focused on adapting books, Netflix has now shifted its attention to popular video game franchises.
Originally launched as *PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds* in 2017, *PUBG: Battlegrounds* quickly became a highly popular online game on PC. Following its success on PC, the title gained a new lease on life when it was released for mobile devices, eventually becoming one of the most popular esports games in the world.
