Avoid Scams, Gmail Will Help Identify Authorized Senders

For now it is not difficult for someone to create a fake website that seems to describe the website is from an official company. Even easier is to create an email address with the company name.
Of course it is intended for evil things like fraud or phishing. So Google, which owns the Gmail service, hopes the release of the new feature will help make it easier for users to identify legitimate emails from the company.

This is in the form of support from BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) where one of them is a certified company logo. This means that when a user receives an email from a verified company, the company logo will appear in the email so that the user will know if the email is genuine.

Reportedly this feature was actually announced last year but was only launched this year.

“BIMI allows organizations that verify their email to use Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Accuracy (DMARC) to provide powerful sender authentication that allows security systems to perform better filtering, separating legitimate messages from potentially fake ones, to authenticate ownership of their logo and send it securely to Google, "Google said.

The question is will this help reduce email scams such as phishing? The answer is probably yes, users are expected when opening an email and start seeing the company logo next to the email if the email is trustworthy. On the other hand, users should also be careful to pay attention to the logo so as not to get caught up in scams.
