There is good news for fans of BlackBerry devices around the world. After a few years have passed, a new BlackBerry phone will be released this year.
This was revealed by OnwardMobility, the company that acquired the rights to manufacture BlackBerry-branded handsets, through a recently announced pre-commitment program.
The program is actually a subscription list for partners and fans. They are promised to be able to receive “product, feature, and availability updates” before the general public.
Even the people and organizations involved can provide direct feedback and influence features and functions.
“The program is expected to expand our relationship with customers interested in purchasing new and innovative Blackberry 5G smartphones,” OnwardMobility wrote on its website.
Unfortunately details about the new BlackBerry 5G phone were not revealed. However, if you are interested, you can follow the program here.
OnwardMobility only asks which name, email address and network operator to use. There is also a section to enter the company name and the estimated number of devices that someone will order.
Earlier in April, the Nikkei Asia website reported that by mid -2021 a new BlackBerry phone would be launched. The device is the result of a collaboration with Texas -based OnwardMobility with BlackBerry and FIH Mobile.
“They are jointly developing a new model phone that will be sold under the BlackBerry brand, featuring a special BlackBerry qwerty keyboard as well as 5G connectivity,” the report said.
Last year, OnwardMobility CEO Peter Franklin gave an idea of what the new BlackBerry handset will look like.
"More than half of the global population owns smartphones today, so the market is huge. But what's missing are productivity -centric smartphones that are very secure and can meet the needs of enterprise users, as well as security -minded consumers. That's what it is. fill it, "said Peter.
Onward Mobility plans to launch this flagship BlackBerry 5G in North America and Europe first, and then follow it to the Asian market.
