Pfizer Research Claims 88% Effectiveness Against the COVID-19 Delta Variant

The Delta variant of COVID-19 is now a cause of problems in various countries. The Corona vaccine made by Pfizer is claimed to be 88% effective against it.
This is the latest research result as reported by the New York Post, Saturday (24/7/2021). The CDC says people who receive 2 doses of the Corona vaccine from Pfizer will be 88% protected from the Delta variant. Such were the results of a research publication in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Delta variants now dominate in the United States, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As many as 83.2% of new Corona cases in America are Delta variants.

Research sponsored by the British Public Health Agency revealed one injection of the Pfizer Corona vaccine provided 30% protection against the Delta variant. But after the second injection, there is protection of up to 88% against the Delta variant.

Previously the Pfizer vaccine was stated to be 94% effective against the Alpha variant. Scientists say the 88% figure for the Delta variant means the vaccine is still working.

"These findings will support efforts to maximize the vaccine to two doses among vulnerable populations," the UK Public Health Service said.

In comparison, this research also cites the results of a Corona vaccine test conducted by AstraZeneca against the Delta variant. 2 AstraZeneca injection was 67% effective against the Delta variant and 74.5% effective against the Alpha variant.
