Google is reportedly testing its latest premium package, Premium Lite, which is cheaper for YouTube video streaming usage.
By subscribing to YouTube Premium, users will be given the facility to view YouTube and YouTube Music videos without ads, offline downloads and playbacks that allow users to switch to other applications while continuing to listen to audio from YouTube videos.
Premium Lite is currently being tested in several countries such as Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
“In the Nordics and the Benelux (except Iceland), we are testing a new offering to give users more options: Premium Lite costs 6.99 euros / month and includes video without ads on YouTube,” a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement.
In comparison, the available YouTube Premium packages cost around 11.99 euros a month in Europe.
Premium Lite includes ad -free viewing on the major YouTube apps on the web, iOS, Android, smart TVs, and game consoles as well as on the YouTube Kids app.
It should be noted that the features in Premium Lite are not the same as YouTube Premium where users will not get ad-free facilities on YouTube Music, background playback and offline downloads.
Still, you can say the price offered by Premium Lite is quite expensive considering the service provided only removes ads on YouTube videos.
But YouTube says that the subscription is currently in the experimental stage and is considering rolling out more shows based on user feedback.
