Tim Cook has been CEO of Apple since January 2009, replacing Steve Jobs. Cook is expected to remain CEO of Apple until at least 2025, and there is something he dreams of at Apple.
Cook, according to Bloomberg writer Mark Gurman, will stay until at least 2025 because he is still waiting for one last bonus from his contract that was signed when he was appointed CEO.
Recently, Cook also received a bonus from the contract. The bonus is in the form of five million shares, which at Apple's current stock price is valued at USD 740 million.
This bonus itself is given because Cook can reach the target set when he signed his contract. That is, Apple's stock returns over the three years ended must be higher than the stock returns of two-thirds of companies in the S&P 500.
But according to Gurman, there is one thing that Cook wanted to achieve when he was still CEO of Apple. Namely helping Apple release a product in a new category.
The product is thought to be augmented reality (AR) glasses, to be Apple's answer to Google Glass. Apple is also expected to release a mixed reality headset in 2022, which is a combination of AR + VR.
While Apple's AR glasses are expected to be released in 2025, which is in line with the time Cook's last bonus drop at Apple.
When Cook later resigned from Apple, Gurman also wrote his analysis of who would replace Cook. In the list there is one name that is quite popular because it often appears at product launch events, namely Craig Federighi.
Whoever's successor has a heavy burden to replace Cook, especially regarding Cook's achievements while at Apple. Like Apple's stock, which rose 1.100% since he took office, and brought Apple to be the first company in the US whose valuation penetrated USD 1 trillion -- now it has reached USD 2.46 trillion.
