WhatsApp Desktop Beta Available for Windows and iOS, Interested in Trying it?

WhatsApp has long had a beta version of its app, but it's only been limited to iOS and Android devices. Now for the first time they are building a beta version of the application for Windows and macOS desktops.

Through the beta version, users can taste the new features that WhatsApp has prepared. So they can get feedback from users before the new feature is widely released.

According to the WABetaInfo page, when a user enrolls in the beta program, they become an official beta tester and will receive all beta updates automatically. For now the latest version for general users is 2.2133.1.

WABetaInfo notes that WhatsApp desktop beta version 2.2133.1 doesn't include many new features, only audio message recording. Users are allowed to preview audio messages that are created before they are sent.

This feature is not yet available in the iOS or Android beta. According to reports, the latest audio recording feature is still being developed for mobile applications.

If users find bugs while using WhatsApp desktop beta, the developer provides a report feature that can be accessed in Settings. Then select Contact Us and send an explanation accompanied by a screenshot so that it is easily understood by the development team.

In addition to the desktop beta, WhatsApp is reportedly preparing an app for the iPad. With multi-device compatibility, users will be able to stay connected to WhatsApp even without their phone or when their smartphone runs out of battery.

According to a WhatsApp spokesperson in an interview with TechRadar, this feature will allow people to use WhatsApp without needing to connect a phone.

"Multi-device means that users will have the same functionality that is available on the current public version of WhatsApp Web, Desktop and Portal, only without the need to connect your phone. Our multi-device capabilities immediately make the experience better for people who using Desktop/Web and Portal. And it will also be possible to add support for more types of devices over time."
