Google again accused of dominance, this time in India

Apple and Google have the two largest smartphone platforms today in the form of iOS and Android operating systems. Both also have their own app stores, namely the App Store and Google Play Store.

Both of them have in recent years often come under the spotlight due to the cuts in app purchases made by the two companies and the rules that are somewhat restrictive to developers.

Google is also currently facing problems related to the dominance of its platform after previously being fined by the South Korean government worth USD 177 million for blocking a custom version of the Android operating system (OS).

Now a similar case is happening in India, according to a report based on two years of research found by the antitrust agency that Google has abused their position to the detriment of competitors.

India feels that Google is making it difficult for manufacturers to use alternative forms of Android, and then also how they are forcing them to install Google apps on their devices.

Google also provided a response in which they said they hoped to work with Indian regulators to show how Android has led to more competition and innovation, not less.
