iPhone 13 Launches, Apple Turns Off iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone XR

Apple officially announced the latest iPhone 13 quartet at an event titled 'California Streaming' last night. To make room for these four new iPhones, Apple stopped selling several older iPhone variants.

One of the models that are no longer on sale are the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. These two 2020 flagship iPhones are no longer seen in Apple's online store, except for reconditioned models.

This kind of thing is usually done every time Apple updates its iPhone line, even though the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are not even a year old. Currently users who still want both models will have to look at third-party retail stores, and they will likely be offered at a lower price.

Another model that is no longer included in the iPhone line this year is the iPhone XR. This phone was introduced in 2018 as an alternative to the iPhone XS at a more affordable price.

iPhone XR is known as a mid-range phone with an LCD screen, second generation Face ID, and Neural Engine technology. In addition to eliminating three models from this year's iPhone line, Apple has also lowered the prices of several models.

Apple lowered the price of the iPhone 11 to $499 to fill the spot left by the iPhone XR. When it unveiled the iPhone 11, Apple said it offered a longer battery life than its predecessor, the U1 ultrawide band chip for finding lost items, and the A13 Bionic chipset.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini which were launched last year also get a discount of USD 100. Now both phones are sold at prices starting from USD 699 and USD 599.

For the iPhone SE, which was introduced last year, the price is still the same at USD 399. With this price update, the iPhone SE remains the cheapest iPhone variant offered by Apple, as quoted from The Verge, Wednesday (15/9/2021).

The iPhone 13 itself is priced at the same price as its predecessor. This time, Apple removed the 64GB variant in the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini lines, and added a 1TB variant for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The iPhone 13 starts at USD 799, and the iPhone 13 mini starts at USD 699. The iPhone 13 Pro starts at USD 999, and the most expensive variant of the iPhone 13 Pro Max starts at USD 1,099.
