Last year, Netflix decided to end its 30-day free trial service in all countries. The service is Netflix's way of attracting new subscribers. However, Netflix says it will adopt a different marketing strategy to convince new subscribers to subscribe to its streaming service.
Now, to expand the market in developing countries such as Africa, Netflix is again offering the service where they have announced that they will again provide free services, especially for users in Kenya.
In this free plan service which is only available for Android users, there will be no ads served. For the catalog of movies and TV show titles provided, a quarter of them are popular titles such as the drama "Money Heist", "Bridgerton" and the African series "Blood & Water,".
"If you've never watched Netflix before - and many people in Kenya haven't - this is a great way to experience our service. And if you like what you see, you can easily upgrade to one of our paid plans so you too can enjoy our full catalog on your TV or laptop," said Cathy Conk, Director of Product Innovation at Netflix.
The move is said to boost growth in key African markets, and lure them into thinking that what Netflix has to offer is the best service possible so they're willing to pay a subscription to enjoy Netflix to the fullest.
