To play online games on Nintendo Switch users must subscribe to Switch Online first. Usually to lure users, those who have subscribed can access the library of classic games from the Nintendo console.
Now reportedly Nintendo will be bringing a collection of old school games, namely the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, to the Nintendo Switch.
The various game titles on the old console will soon join the more than 100 games on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) offered through the Switch Online subscription service.
The information came from the Nate the Hate podcast which was later strengthened by Nintendo LIfe and Eurogame. Unfortunately, there is no further information about what game titles will be coming soon.
Nintendo has curated a library of NES and SNES which are considered very slow, some of which such as Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario RPG are still MIA two years later.
But it makes sense that Nintendo would step up more classic content, especially now that the Switch is on board.
Additionally Nintendo is also seeing its competitors take advantage of next-generation remakes, remasters, and patches that make older games look better and give the new console a year of family membership.
