Pain After Swallowing HP, This Man Must Be Operated

A 33-year-old man from Pristina, Kosovo swallowed a red cell phone. He had to have surgery to remove the phone from his stomach.

This incident became known after the doctor who performed the surgery, Dr. Skender Telaku, uploaded the story to Facebook. He also uploaded several photos of X-ray scans and endoscopy which showed the condition of the cellphone while it was still in the stomach.

It is not known why the man swallowed the phone and how he could swallow such a large object. After feeling pain in his stomach, the man immediately visited the hospital in Pristina.

After going through several scans and tests, the doctor found that the source of the pain was a red cell phone in his stomach. The man was warned that the cell phone could be life threatening because the cell phone battery contains dangerous chemicals.

In his post on Facebook, Dr. Telaku said he and his team used an endoscope to remove the phone in three parts. This process is done without complications and without the need to open the abdomen.

"I got a call about a patient swallowing an object, and after doing a scan we saw that the phone had split into three parts," said Dr. Telaku to local media, as quoted from the Times of India, Wednesday (8/9/2021).

"Of all the parts, what worries us the most is the battery because it has the potential to explode in the man's stomach."

Dr. Telaku and his team took two hours to remove the cell phone from the stomach. The type of phone the man swallowed is believed to be the L8STAR BM90, which is a smaller imitation of the Nokia 3310.
