WhatsApp users on iOS will soon have a video mute feature

WhatsApp users on iOS will have a new feature, namely video mute. As the name implies, this feature allows users to mute the video before it is sent.

If this feature sounds familiar, this is because the video mute feature has been present on WhatsApp Android since last March. When WhatsApp launched the video mute feature on Android there was no information about its availability on iOS. Now six months later the mystery has been slightly answered.

The presence of the video mute feature on WhatsApp iOS was first discovered by WABetaInfo. This feature is available for trial on WhatsApp iOS beta version 2.21.190.11.

From the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, how the video mute feature works on iOS looks the same as on Android. After selecting or recording the video to be sent, the user can simply tap the speaker icon in the upper left corner below the video slider to mute the sound in the video.

In addition to bringing the video mute feature, WhatsApp also brings minor changes to the video composer page. The changes can be seen in the toggle design for converting videos into GIFs in the upper right corner.

WhatsApp users will also be able to see the size of the video that will be sent. When a user edits a video in the video composer, the new size will be immediately visible on the screen, as quoted from WABetaInfo, Sunday (19/9/2021).

Currently, the new video mute feature is available for WhatsApp iOS users who are already in the beta program. It is not yet known when this feature will be rolled out publicly for all users.
