Apple Uses Cheap Screen on iPad Mini 6?

The iPad Mini 6 screen is complained of showing a swaying scrolling animation or commonly known as the 'jelly scroll' effect. What caused it?

The 'jelly scroll' effect on the iPad Mini 6 was explained by iFixit when disassembling one of the newest iPads. This effect is not new, and has to do with the orientation of the controller board present in the device.

That is, this effect does not always appear, depending on the orientation of the screen when the tablet is used. The reason is that the screen will 'update' the display (refresh rate) from one side to the other.

So, if the user uses the tablet in a certain orientation, which does not match the orientation of the component, then the scrolling effect of the screen will feel unequal on each side. In the case of the iPad Mini 6, this 'jelly scroll' effect appears when used in vertical orientation.

Apple itself calls this problem normal, and according to iFixiit speculation, it happens because Apple uses a cheaper screen panel than usual. So the change in the image on the screen becomes more visible than usual.

The replacement of the iPad Mini 6 screen itself according to iFixit is done by heating the screen and cutting the glue that attaches the panel to the body. There are two connectors that connect the screen to the tablet body.

According to them, Apple is using a new type of connector to connect the battery in the iPad Mini 6, which is easier to open than before. Although the battery itself is glued with very strong glue, it requires isopropyl alcohol to dissolve it.

It's just that, even though the screen is not difficult to open, there is one component that may not operate after being disassembled. Namely the speaker, because the speaker is connected with glue, which makes it unable to function after being disassembled.

Oh yeah, the USB-C component in the iPad Mini 6 is also modular, so it's separate from the motherboard, which makes it easy to repair or replace. But that's not enough to make the iPad Mini 6 get a high score in terms of repair, because iFixit only scores 3 out of 10 for this device.
