Google Cuts Admin Fees in Half Price on Play Store

On the App Store and Google Play Store app stores, both Apple and Google charge developers a 30% discount which covers app sales, in-app purchases and subscriptions made through both app stores.

Developers also have no choice but to follow these rules. However, in recent years more and more developers have started complaining and criticizing the cost cuts that are considered too burdensome for developers.

Now, Google has announced that it will make some changes to the fees that will be charged to developers.

Google will lower the fee to 15%. Previously this 15% discount had been offered to developers but on their condition if the user had a repeat user for 12 months.

But these requirements turned out to be difficult for them especially to benefit from the tariff reduction.

"So we're simplifying things to be sure. To help support the special needs of developers offering subscriptions starting January 1, 2022, we're lowering the service fee for all subscriptions on the Google Play Store from 30% to 15%," Google said.

"We imagine that this move isn't entirely altruistic. While it's great for developers looking to take advantage of the Play Store, it also helps Google in the eyes of regulators where it can prove that Google is willing to make concessions and can help them avoid further scrutiny and lawsuits." ' continued Google.
