Google Will Tighten Play Store Security Fort

Google has announced that it will add a Data safety section to app profiles on the Google Play Store early next year.

The goal is to help Android phone users better protect their personal data with the apps they download.

This safety data will transparently show potential users how the application collects, shares, and protects user data before installing the application on an Android device.

Google launched the Data safety form in the Google Play Console. Here developers can review, fill out and submit forms by creating a Content section menu in the Google Play Console.

If the form is submitted and approved then the security description will be automatically included in their application and the user can see it on the Google Play Store.

However, if the form is rejected or the developer does not register any information related to Data safety, then potential users will see the statement "No information available" in that section on the Google Play Store.

And this will make potential users who are aware of privacy avoid downloading the application because there is no transparency in data security and of course this will harm developers both in terms of sales and revenue.

Starting in February next year Android users will see the Data safety information located under the 'About this apps' information on the Google Play Store.

The application profile will indicate what data will be collected or shared. It also highlights other security details such as whether the app has data encryption security practices, whether the app is committed to following Google Family policies and whether the app is independently reviewed against global security standards.
