Huawei's Android Competitor Used 150 Million Devices

Huawei announced that the operating system developed by Huawei, namely HarmonyOS, has been used by more than 150 million devices.

HarmonyOS was first launched in 2019, after Huawei devices were blocked by the US company from being able to use the Android operating system. However, this operating system runs smoothly without any major problems.

"Over the past three years millions of system developers and ecological partners have worked with us, riding the wind and waves," Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu said on his Weibo account as quoted by the Global Times.

"Now we're not only accumulating 150 million devices running the OS, but also building a dynamic and fast-growing Harmony ecosystem. HarmonyOS, we did it!" he continued.

Yu explained that so far the devices updated to the HarmonyOS operating system include smartphones, smartwatches, and tablets that have surpassed 150 million devices.

HarmonyOS is also growing the fastest, he also said that this number could exceed 200 million by the end of this year and 400 million by the end of 2022

The Chinese telecommunications giant is currently holding its largest annual event, the Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) in the city of Dongguan, Guangdong Province, South China.

During the event, Huawei invited developers, industry heavyweights, and partners to try by sharing the latest technologies that Huawei has developed over the past year.

Investments in HarmonyOS and HMS systems have now exceeded 50 billion yuan. During the HDC event Huawei indicated it would increase its software investment in the following years.
