Netflix Boss: Squid Game Beyond Our Wildest Dreams


 The popularity of the Squid Game series in various parts of the world continues to increase, which is currently considered the most popular on Netflix. The Squid Game's achievement was even unexpected by the Netflix boss.

Netflix said that since it first aired on September 17 until now, the South Korean fictional drama series has been viewed by around 111 million accounts.


This achievement is certainly history for this Netflix on-demand streaming platform. Previously, the record was held by Bridgerton which attracted 82 million viewers from its debut broadcast.



"When we first started investing in Korean series and films in 2015, we wanted to create world-class stories for drama fans across Asia and the world," said Netflix's vice president of content for Korea, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Minyoung. Kim, quoted from CNN, Thursday (14/10/2021).


"Today, Squid Game has surpassed our wildest dreams. Squid Game gives (Netflix) more confidence that our global strategy is headed in the right direction," he continued.


Squid Game is listed as the number 1 series on Netflix's Top 10 list in 94 countries around the world. In fact, the series, starring Lee Jung Jae, is a Korean series that is the top one watched in the United States.




Squid Game tells the story of people who are involved in financial problems, then are lured to get a prize of 45.6 billion Won .


This Korean series is played by Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Jung Ho Yeon, Oh Young Soo, until Heo Sung Tae has to play a child's game. But in return, they must risk their lives to become the ultimate victor.


As a concern, this Squid Game is included in the category of shows that can be watched by ages 19 and over, because it contains violence, sadism, to adult content.
