The Dimensity 1200 is one of MediaTek's newest releases, released in June 2021. What are the advantages like?
The Dimensity 1200 was released together with the Dimensity 1100, but both are intended for different markets. The Dimensity 1200 is for premium class phones.
The CPU uses a 1+3+4 configuration with one Cortex-A78 core running at 3GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.6GHz, and a quartet of power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores running at 2GHz.
The Dimensity 1200 main core is promised to have faster performance than the Cortex-A77 whose speed is 2.6GHz.
Of course this is performance for a single core, while the overall performance is said to be 22% higher and the power efficiency is 25% higher. This SoC is equipped with a Mali-G77 GPU, and all of them are manufactured using the 6nm process by TSMC.
Apart from that, in terms of features, the Dimensity 1200 can handle a 168Hz screen, and its image signal processing (ISP) has 5 cores and can be paired with cameras up to a resolution of 200 megapixels.
4K video recording in HDR mode can also be done, namely by combining three images with different exposures into one image.
Regarding connectivity, the Dimensity 1200 is equipped with an integrated 5G modem, also equipped with Bluetooth 5.2 which allows it to 'send' audio data to multiple devices simultaneously.
One of the devices that use Dimensity 1200 is the Xiaomi 11T, which will probably be released in the near future in the market. This phone has a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen that supports an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, TrueColor, HDR10+, and a maximum brightness level of 1000 nits.
Xiaomi 11T is powered by MediaTek Dimesity 1200-ultra SoC, while the Pro variant is powered by Snapdragon 888. Both run MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11, Xiaomi ensures that it will provide 3 Android OS updates and 4 years of security updates.
