In a week, to be exact November 1, 2021, WhatsApp will stop supporting a number of Android phones and iPhones. As a result, users are threatened in terms of security and they are blocked from new features.
"WhatsApp will no longer support Android phones running OS 4.0.4 and earlier on November 1, 2021. Please switch to a supported device or save your chat history before that date," WhatsApp wrote on the Android FAQ page.
This WhatsApp policy is not without purpose. They want to focus on developing features on newer devices.
To help, WhatsApp has shared a list of devices that no longer support the service starting November 1, 2021.
In general, the cellphone will be blocked if it is still running Android 4.0.3 or lower, or iOS 9 or earlier.
Now if you are still using an Android phone or iPhone with the operating system mentioned earlier, it's a good idea to update to a newer version. If you have a budget, there's no harm in considering buying the latest Android cellphone and iPhone series.
It should be noted, even though it is no longer supported, it does not mean that WhatsApp will stop working on the cellphone. You can still send messages, but they don't get the very important security updates. Not to mention the new features that provide an even better experience when messaging.

iPhone users can go to Settings > General > About, see the iOS version.
