Instagram Offers USD 35,000 to Create Reels Content, Want?

Instagram seems to really want its users to use Reels' short video feature. They even dare to offer a bonus of up to USD 35,000 for creators who post Reels content.

Details about this bonus were revealed from a TechCrunch and Business Insider report. The bonus-sharing program was first announced by Instagram in July, when Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said his company would give out $1 billion to creators throughout 2022.

This latest report reveals how much bonus creators receive from their Reels content, as well as the criteria for getting the bonus.

An example of the highest bonus that a creator can get is USD 35,000 for Reels which gets 58.31 million views per month. The same amount of bonus was offered to Sam and Cori Werell, creators who have 283,000 followers.

Meanwhile, smaller creators get lower bonus offers. Like Maddy Corbin, a creator with 52,000 followers on Instagram, admits that she was offered $1,000 per month, but she said she knows other creators who were offered $600 or $800.

It seems that the number of bonuses offered is also increasing. An Instagram user with 24,000 followers said they were offered $800 last month if all of their Reels content got 1.7 million views. That figure rose to USD 8,500 for 9.28 million views this month.

From this report, it seems that there are no specific rules on how the number of followers affects the bonuses offered. Instagram says the program is still in its early stages and they are still experimenting with the program.

"We're continuing to test payments as we roll out to more creators, and will fluctuate while we're still getting started," Instagram said, as quoted by The Verge, Sunday (11/14/2021).

There are two possibilities why Instagram is holding this bonus program. The first possibility is that this photo-sharing platform really wants to share incentives for creators who have helped grow the platform.

But it's no secret that Instagram wants to catch up with TikTok's popularity. Moreover, the bonus offered is to use a feature that is a TikTok clone.

Instagram isn't the only social network that offers incentives for creators to use its short video feature. YouTube recently announced that it will pay creators up to USD 10,000 per month to create Shorts content.

Snapchat also announced the Snapchat Challenges program that offers a variety of rewards for creators for making short videos. Snapchat says their bonuses are in the $1,000 to $25,000 range.
