Samsung Has New RAM, Can Create Metaverse Universe

Samsung released the latest generation of RAM called LPDDR5X for mobile devices such as HP and the like, and can also be used for various other devices including the metaverse.

The RAM is LPDDR5X which is technically a significant improvement over its predecessor. The speed is 1.3x faster than LPDDR5 and also has a higher density, up to 65GB per chip.

Its power consumption is also 20% more efficient than the previous generation. All that is achieved because this RAM is built using the new 14nm process.

Just like RAM in PCs, this increase of course only looks significant on paper. Because in everyday use, it will be difficult to distinguish the performance of HP's using LPDDR5 and LPDDR5X RAM.

Well, Samsung says this RAM is also suitable for use other than cellphones, one of which is the metaverse. Unfortunately they did not explain in detail this statement.

However, with lower power consumption and faster performance, this RAM can help AR and VR headsets become faster and more energy efficient. So users can enter the 'digital world' better.

The claim to use 14nm manufacturing on this chip is also interesting, because previously Samsung did not clearly explain the manufacture used for its RAM. They only said the previous RAM chips had performance in the 10nm class, which could mean that the process used was between 10nm and 20nm.

It is not yet clear when LPDDR5X will be used in cellphones, including Samsung's Galaxy line. However, Anandtech speculates that the RAM chip will only be used in 2023 output devices.
