Instagram Will Launch Parental Control Feature

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Instagram was planning to develop a platform specifically for children. Unfortunately, they temporarily suspended the project.

For parents of teens, they are concerned about what content they see and who their children interact with. Instagram addresses those concerns by introducing "parental controls" into its app.

"Parents and guardians know what's best for their teens, so we plan to launch our first feature in March to help them mentor and support their teens on Instagram," said Adam Mosseri Head of Instagram as quoted by us from Ubergizmo.

"Parents and guardians will be able to see how much time their teen is spending on Instagram and set a time limit."

Mosseri also added that Instagram will give these teens a new option to notify their parents if they report someone, giving their parents a chance to talk to them about it.

"This is the first version of this control feature. We will continue to add more options from time to time," he explained

There will also be additional resources in the form of an educational hub that will include product tutorials, tips, and more.

Recently, Instagram has also announced a "take a break" feature which they will now develop in several countries such as the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
