Powerful Tornado Lands America Makes Scientists Anxious

Six states of the United States were swept away by a strong tornado and left at least 83 people dead and extensive damage. While dozens of other people are still missing until now. This unusual natural phenomenon is thought to have something to do with climate change and worries scientists.

US President Joe Biden has declared a state of disaster in Kentucky, the state hardest hit by the devastating brunt of the tornado. Experts say climate change could make hurricanes of this kind stronger, so it's worrying if that happens in the future.

"Last night showed that a strong tornado can occur in any season, especially if there is an unusually hot weather, like what happened yesterday," said Dr Robert Rohde, scientist from Berkeley Earth.

"In fact, based on history, the month of December usually has the fewest tornadoes in the US," he added, as quoted by us from Futurism.

Global warming due to climate change may make the air temperature in December hotter. The warmer the air and the colder the cold air waves that hit, the more powerful the tornado.

Reports from the Washington Post interviewing scientists indicate that tornadoes of this kind may become more frequent in the future. So, it is necessary to immediately conduct research on how it actually relates to climate change.

"A lot of people wake up today and see the damage done and say is this going to be the new normal?" said Victor Gensini, professor of meteorology at Northern Illinois University.

"It will take some time before we can say with certainty what role climate change actually played in a catastrophic tornado like the one that occurred yesterday," he added.
