Activision Acquired by Microsoft Makes Sony Dizzy?

Sony is the company affected by Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which is valued at nearly $69 billion.

The immediate impact of the acquisition for Sony was its valuation which immediately fell to USD 20 billion. It seems that Sony investors are afraid that PlayStation will "lose" the Call of Duty game series as a result of the acquisition (because the game was made by Activision Blizzard).

Fortunately, then Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer confirmed that the game series would still be present on the PlayStation. Spencer said Microsoft respects all agreements that occurred before the acquisition.

"Sony is an important part of our industry and we value that relationship," Spencer tweeted on his @XboxP3 account.

This statement was also confirmed by Sony, who said that Microsoft ensured that the games made by Activision would remain multiplatform, aka can be played on platforms other than Xbox.

Previously, Microsoft also continued to present Minecraft - which they acquired for USD 2.5 billion in 2014 - on other platforms such as PlayStation, Nintendo, and Apple, as quoted by Techspot, Sunday (22/1/2022).

Likewise, games made by Bethesda are still available on other platforms after Microsoft acquired Zenimax. For example, Quake remaster, which will still be released on PlayStation in 2021, as originally planned.

Then Bethesda continues to support the PlayStation version of Elder Scrolls online with a variety of new content and DLC. But in the future, games like Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI will only be available on Xbox and Windows.

Activision Blizzard is currently running projects with PlayStation, such as the next Call of Duty series, Overwatch 2, and Diablo IV. The game may still be available for the PlayStation version, and maybe Call of Duty Warzone will still be available on the platform made by Sony.
