Battlefield 2042 was initially thought to be a selling game, but after its release, it turned out that this game could not meet the expectations of its fans.
Now, two months after it was released, not only has the number of sales decreased, but the number of players has continued to decrease. Even this game is considered one of the worst games of all time on Steam, and its position continues to be the worst in terms of user ratings.
EA did not immediately give up because they continue to update improvements in this game. Such as improved gameplay quality, reduced vehicle capabilities, and various other improvements.
However, this update does not bring new features that can attract new players, and because its position has not improved, EA is now evaluating a new option to save Battlefield 2042, namely by making it free.
Yes, EA is exploring options to change the Battlefield 2042 business model to be free to play to some extent, and of course other options, as quoted by Techspot, Sunday (23/1/2022).
EA is reportedly very disappointed with how Battlefield 2042 has performed and is "looking at all the options" when it comes to the title, this is including looking at Free to Play in some capacity.

Drastic changes to the business model in this game are not new. Previously there was also PUBG: Battlegrounds which turned into free to play, but still compensated players who had already purchased the game.
Supposedly, if EA really turns Battlefield 2042 into free-to-play, they will also provide similar compensation.
Battlefield 2042 is currently available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, as well as for PC via Steam and EA Play/Origin. Prices start at USD 59.99 for the new generation console and PC and USD 69.99 for the previous generation console.
