Elon Musk Furious With Twitter Over NFT Profile Photo Feature

Twitter has just announced a new feature for Twitter Blue subscribers that allows them to set NFT as a profile photo. But there is one figure who is not happy with this feature, namely Elon Musk.

This new feature allows users to link a crypto wallet with their Twitter account and post an existing NFT in their collection as a profile photo. With this, users can show that the NFT in their profile has proof of ownership.

In a tweet, Musk called the new feature annoying. The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla also thinks Twitter is just wasting its resources to develop this feature.

"Twitter is wasting techie resources on this crap while crypto scammers are throwing a spambot party on every thread," Musk said, as quoted by Business Insider.

Musk's criticism refers to the many spam accounts and scammers who use his name and photo to run crypto scams. It was so bad that Twitter banned users from changing their name to 'Elon Musk' in 2018.

Shortly before Musk became a 'Saturday Night Live' presenter in May 2021, his followers were also targeted by spam accounts waging a crypto scam campaign.

Even though Musk himself is one of the supporters of crypto and blockchain technology. In March 2021, the 50-year-old announced that Tesla would accept Bitcoin as a form of payment, before finally canceling it in May 2021 for environmental reasons.

Musk also frequently promotes meme tokens like Dogecoin on Twitter. Not long ago, Tesla announced that it would accept Dogecoin as a form of payment for some of its merchandise.
