 Elon Musk's reputation as a successful billionaire is certainly not in doubt. The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla also shared tips and advice for young people who want to be successful in life.

While speaking on the Lex Friedman podcast, Musk was asked what advice he could give schoolchildren and college students who want to make a positive impact on the world.

1. Be useful

The first tip that Musk shared was that young people should be useful. According to him, if one lives a fruitful life, it is a life worth living.

2. Contribute to society

The second piece of advice he shared with Friedman was that people should contribute more to those around them than they earn.


"Try to make a positive contribution to society. That is something to aim for," said the 50-year-old man.


3. Don't try to be a leader

Musk also advises young people to become leaders just for style.


"A lot of times, the people you want to be leaders are the people who don't want to be leaders," Musk said.


4. Read a lot

Another key to success shared by Musk is diligent reading. To Friedman, Musk said he loved reading encyclopedias as a child.


"I would encourage people to read lots of books," Musk said.
