iPhone is still the best-selling cellphone in China

For the second month in a row, the iPhone has become the best-selling cellphone in China, which is expected to occur thanks to the release of the iPhone 13.

According to Counterpoint Research, the iPhone market share in China reached 23.6%, up from 22% in the previous month. Meanwhile in 2nd position is Vivo with a market share of 17.8%.

According to the research institute, Apple was able to top the list because of the popularity of the iPhone 13 series, which has increased camera capabilities, higher battery life, and almost the same price as the iPhone 12.

Then last November there was also Singles Day in China, such as Harbolnas in Indonesia and Black Friday in the United States and several other countries. Several e-commerce platforms in China named iPhones (both new and old) in the top 10 list of daily sales on November 11.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple's sales from month to month increased 15.5% from October to November. But they see the rise is coming to an end.

Counterpoint analyst Ethan Qi expects the increase in Apple's sales in China to begin to decrease in December or January, as users in China start to stop updating their iOS devices.

Even now, the waiting time when ordering an iPhone in China has been reduced. From 20 days last November to order the iPhone 13 Pro, it's now dropped to less than a week. This indicates that the supply of the iPhone 13 Pro has improved, or it could be that the number of customers has decreased.

Keep in mind, Apple only won for two months, while for the whole Q3 2021, Vivo was dominated by 23% market share, followed by Oppo with 20%, Honor 15%, Xiaomi 14%, and Apple 13%.
