Apple got off to a good start in 2022 with its Q1 2022 fiscal financial reports. The report revealed that their income between October - December 2021 was a record.
In that period, Apple recorded revenue of USD 123.9 billion, much higher than Wall Street's estimate of USD 118.66 billion, and 11% higher than their revenue in the same period a year earlier, which was USD 111.4 billion.
Of that USD 123.9 billion, USD 76.63 billion came from iPhone sales, which was again higher than Wall Street's estimate of only USD 68.34 billion. In the same period a year earlier, Apple recorded iPhone sales worth USD 65.60 billion, aka up 9% year over year.
In 2021, Apple released the iPhone 13 Pro, which had some significant improvements over its predecessor. Namely a 120Hz ProMotion screen, a much bigger camera sensor, a bigger battery too. This is also the 2nd generation iPhone equipped with 5G connectivity (which in Indonesia is still locked).
But Apple's success with the iPhone was not followed by sales of the iPad, whose revenue declined from USD 8.44 billion in Q1 2021 to USD 7.44 billion. In this sector also Apple could not meet the expectations of Wall Street, which estimates revenue from the iPad will reach USD 8.18 billion.
Fortunately, income from the Wearables, Home and Accessories sector rose from USD 12.97 billion to USD 14.70 billion, aka an increase of 13.34% year over year. In this sector, Apple's flagship devices are, of course, the Apple Watch and AirPods.
The biggest increase in revenue came from the Apple Services sector, which contains various Apple digital products such as the App Store, Apple Pay, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Care+, Apple News and others.
Income from this sector rose 24% from USD 15.75 billion to USD 19.52 billion, much higher than Wall Street's forecast of only USD 18.61 billion.
The increase in sales also occurred in almost all countries, except for Japan. The largest revenue growth occurred in China, where its revenue rose from USD 21.31 billion in 2021 to USD 25.78 billion, as quoted by us from Phone Arena, Friday (28/1/2022).
