Getting rid of cheaters in games by blocking the culprits seems no longer effective, because of that Activision implemented a new way to eradicate cheaters in Call of Duty Warzone.
Cheaters in games like Call of Duty certainly spoil the enjoyment of playing for honest players. Now, in Call of Duty Warzone, anti-cheat software is now applied that doesn't block cheat users.
The anti-cheat software called Ricochet will make bullets from players who use cheats cannot hurt honest players. The bullet that is fired will bounce if it hits an honest player.
As a result, players without cheats will become 'gods' if they face cheaters, and (supposedly) will easily kill players who use cheaters, as quoted by us from The Verge, Sunday (20/2/2022).
In their official blog post, Activision mentions that they will only turn on this feature if the server detects Ricochet if it detects a cheater. So players shouldn't need to be afraid that this feature will activate for no reason.
"We will not interfere with fighting between players who follow the rules," Activision wrote.
However, Activision will then still block players who are proven to use cheats. Not only in Warzone, but also in all Call of Duty games. Forever.
"In the future, repeated or extreme security policy violations -- such as in-game cheats -- could result in permanent blocking of all accounts. Likewise, any attempt to conceal identity or device identification could also result in blocking," continued Activision.
Cheats have been a problem in many games over the past few years, and there isn't a popular game that hasn't been touched by cheats. Professional gamers don't hesitate to leave games with too many cheaters.
Activision itself has many steps to fight these cheaters. In addition to anti-cheat software, kernel-level drivers for PCs, they also take legal steps such as suing or threatening to sue cheat makers.
