Apple CEO Ready to Help Ukrainians

Ukraine is currently being invaded by Russia and of course many of its citizens are suffering. This has also caught the attention of Apple CEO, Tim Cook.

On his official Twitter account as seen on Saturday (26/2/2022), the successor to the late Steve Jobs stated that Apple would offer assistance to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. In addition, Apple will also support peace efforts.

"I am deeply concerned about the situation in Ukraine. We are doing all we can for our teams who are there and will support local humanitarian efforts," wrote Tim Cook.

"I think of the people who are currently in danger and join all those who want peace," he added.

Apple doesn't actually have an Apple Store or factory in Ukraine. However, they partner with several authorized Apple gadget sellers in the country.

Meanwhile in Russia, Apple has just opened its first office there. They did this after the Russian government required that Apple have a physical office in their country.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine had a negative impact on various fields, including the technology sector. In Ukraine, there are hundreds of startups and representatives of major technology companies. There are also some employees of global tech giants.

Google has about 200 employees in Ukraine and it is not known what their plans are. Meanwhile, Uber decided to stop its service in Ukraine and asked drivers to stay at home.

Tech company TikTok also said it was trying to keep employees in Ukraine safe. "The safety of our community and employees is a top priority. We also take action against content that threatens the security of our platform, including removing inappropriate content and will continue to monitor it," said a TikTok spokesperson.
