Apple Store Employees in the US Secretly Want to Create a Union

A source claims that there are more than six workers at the US Apple Store who are secretly planning to unionize.

At least two shops have already garnered support from the national trade unions and prepared submissions to the National Labor Council.

The pro-union workers are reported to have organized in secret to avoid possible eavesdropping and action from Apple. They use encrypted chats and even use Android phones to keep the communication private.

Employees are alleged to have informally investigated co-workers to gauge support and potentially secure a majority in the event of a union vote.

Apple has previously said that all employee concerns are taken seriously and thoroughly investigates issues when they arise, but Apple does not address specific employee issues as a matter of respecting the privacy of those involved.

Reported by us from Engadget, Monday (21/2/2022) Apple seems to have realized the efforts of unions. Much like Amazon, Apple appears to be using managers to issue anti-union warnings, such as claims that workers may see reduced pay and benefits.

This isn't the first time Apple has dealt with employees unhappy with working conditions. Last year's #AppleToo campaign garnered hundreds of stories about bad workplaces from retail and corporate employees.

Apple has yet to show clear signs of addressing the issue, and is allegedly pushing and firing #AppleToo organizers.

There is no guarantee the union will improve conditions, but it is becoming increasingly clear that employees want better treatment.
