The Disney Plus streaming service tested the capabilities of the live streaming feature for the first time on Tuesday (8/2/2022). This inaugural test was conducted for the Academy Awards (Oscar) nomination event in March.
"We are testing the live broadcast capabilities of the Disney Plus service in the US with an Academy Award nomination. We are pleased with the results and will continue to test as part of our ongoing approach and provide the best user experience to consumers." said Kristie Adler, a spokesperson for Disney Plus, as quoted by us from The Verge.
He also added that this Disney Plus live broadcast test can be accessed by all its subscribers in the United States.
Disney did not provide further details on whether there will be another live broadcast outside of the Academy Award events.
However, it makes sense that in the future Disney Plus will provide more live broadcasts considering that Disney also has two other services, such as Hulu and ESPN Plus, which also allow it to provide such content.
Disney said it was looking into "possibles" such as what live content could potentially be for Disney Plus.
