More and more foreign technology companies are ceasing to do business in Russia. After Apple, now it's Microsoft's turn to announce that it will stop selling its products after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
As quoted by us from CNBC, Microsoft stopped marketing all new products and services in Russia. The technology giant founded by Bill Gates admitted to coordinating with the governments of the United States, Britain and the European Union in carrying out these actions.
"We believe we can most effectively assist Ukraine when we take concrete action in coordination with decisions that have been taken by these governments and we will take further action as this situation continues to develop," said Microsoft President & Vice Chair, Brad Smith.
Previously, Microsoft also provided information to the Government of Ukraine in the event of a cyber attack. The hacker attack was known to target military and manufacturing institutions in Ukraine.
Before Microsoft, Apple had stopped selling all of its products in Russia, including the iPhone. After that, there was Google which said it would stop doing advertising business in Russia.
The online lodging site Airbnb has also recently suspended all operations in Russia and Belarus. "This means that we will block accepting new bookings in both countries until further notice," said an Airbnb spokesperson.
"We will also limit users in Belarus and Russia from making reservations as guests. We certainly hope, looking to the future, that actions towards peace can be realized," he added. It is likely that there will be more technology companies that will follow them, especially those from the United States, of course with the aim of putting pressure on Russia.
