Electronic Arts (EA), announced that it will remove the national team and all other Russian clubs from FIFA 22 and NHL 22. This is done, as a form of their solidarity with Ukraine.
"In line with our partners with FIFA and UEFA, EA Sports has started the process of removing the national team and all Russian clubs from all EA Sports products, including FIFA 22, FIFA Mobile and FIFA Online. We are also actively evaluating the changes to other areas. ," wrote EA as quoted by us from social media, Friday (4/3/2022).
EA Sports also revealed, removing the presence of the Russian team, in their ice hockey game titled NHL 22. This is in line with the sanctions imposed by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), related to the country's ban in all competitions held by the federation.
"Following the suspension of the IIHF, all Russian and Belarusian national teams and clubs from the IIHF competition. We will be removing this team from NHL 22 in the coming weeks," wrote EA Sports NHL.
"We are with the Ukrainian people and join the voices of supporters around the world," he added.
Meanwhile, Mykhailo Fedorov, deputy prime minister of Ukraine, has asked PlayStation and Xbox, to ban Russian gamers. He urged the two gaming giants to temporarily withdraw from the country.
An open letter written by him hopes to motivate Russian citizens to proactively stop this shameful military aggression. However, the Ukrainian prime minister is actually referring to all game developers and esports platforms.
"Including postponing events to be held in the region. We believe that such actions can stop this shameful military aggression," wrote Federov.
