3 Ways to Maintain Skin Health While Fasting, Can Prevent Acne Until Dry Lips

It doesn't feel like we have welcomed back the month of Ramadan and started fasting. One of the problems that are often experienced when fasting is skin problems, ranging from skin that looks not fresh, acne appears, to dry lips due to lack of mineral water intake.

However, there are actually some good benefits for the skin when fasting, you know. Such as preventing tumors and skin cancer, increasing the skin cycle so that the skin always looks bright and preventing premature aging, as well as other benefits.

However, during fasting there are certain skin conditions and problems that are often experienced, especially dry skin conditions. Dermatologist and Venereologist, dr. Aninda Marina, SpDV also said that fasting can have an impact on skin conditions.

"There is a restriction of fluids and calories for several hours, causing a lack of fluid, becoming dehydrated. During iftar, if rehydration is not good, it causes a lack of fluid in the skin," he explained at the Virtual Media Briefing with Bamed.

However, don't worry. You can still fast while maintaining healthy skin at the same time by following the following ways!

Meet Mineral Water Intake Needs

Make sure to drink enough mineral water. Even though you have to fast for approximately 12 hours, you can still consume adequate amounts of mineral water at suhoor, iftar, and at night after breaking the fast.

Fluid needs in the body itself can be calculated, which is 30 milliliters per kilogram of body weight per 24 hours.

Using Moisturizer for Skin and Lips

The condition of the skin on the face, body, and lips tends to become dry when fasting. For this reason, you can use a moisturizer to help nourish the skin while fasting.

Starting from using facial moisturizer, body moisturizer, to lip moisturizer. Also make sure to apply moisturizer regularly twice a day after bathing, OK!

The right food with balanced nutrition

Make sure you always eat complex carbohydrates that are low in sugar. Also fulfill the intake of protein, vegetables, and fruits that are rich in vitamins A, B, C, and E, according to calorie needs.

Avoid drinking too much coffee and sugary foods when breaking the fast. Vitamin D supplementation may be needed to prevent skin problems.

"Vitamin D in addition to preventing the recurrence of skin diseases such as eczema, can also improve immunity during fasting," said Aninda.

Consumption of vitamin D should not be arbitrary. First, check the level of vitamin D that the body needs so that the dose is right.
