4 Inspirational Movies About Tough Women You Can Watch on Netflix

Films that tell the story of women's struggles to face the world are always interesting to watch. Not only the storylines are slick, these films also have a deep moral message about emancipation and other women's issues that are no less important.

Here are 4 women-themed films on Netflix that are suitable for you to watch this weekend!

1. Little Women

Starring Saoirse Roman, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh and Laura Dern, the film 'Little Women' tells the story of 4 sisters in the 1868s who try to achieve their dreams in their own way.

They were born in a poor family. But that did not dampen their determination to continue to pursue their dreams and live their own lives without the interference of others. In this film, you will also see how they struggled to break the societal stigma about women at that time.

2. Enola Holmes

The film 'Enola Holmes' is set in 1884 and tells the story of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes' youngest brother to find his missing mother. Enola Holmes, played by Millie Bobby Brown, is described as a tough, intelligent and brave girl who from her childhood received a 'unique' upbringing from her mother.

On his 16th birthday, he finds his mother mysteriously disappearing, leaving only a box of codes to crack. But before successfully completing the code, two of Enola's older brothers, Sherlock and Mycroft, enrolled her in an all-girls school to study 'ethics' as a girl.

Enola who rejects the idea then runs away and decides to find her mother's whereabouts alone with the code given to her.

3. Moxie

While the previous two films were set in the Middle Ages, this one tells the story of a Gen Z girl named Vivian who starts a feminist movement at her school to fight injustice.

He anonymously publishes a pocket magazine criticizing the school system. At that time, the school prioritized providing scholarships for white male students, even though these students had very bad behavior towards women, even sexually harassing them.

Vivian then joined other female friends in carrying out a women's support movement which was inspired by her mother's action to dismantle the rotten school system in the 90s.

4. A World Without

This Netflix film comes from the Indonesian film world. The film, starring Amanda Rawles, Asmara Abigail and Maizura, tells the story of a mysterious organization that emerged in 2030, after the pandemic situation in Indonesia ended.

The organization called 'The Light' recruits young people to get training to become agents of change. But when The Light's 'dark secret' is revealed, the three best friends who follow the organization try to escape before it's too late.

This film explores various women's issues, as well as illustrates how the burden of the future of humanity is more borne by women than men.
