Apple will hold the 2022 Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), the schedule for which has just been announced. The annual event will be held from 7 to 10 June, and will still be held online.
Although intended for developers, WWDC 2022 is interesting for general users to follow. Because during the keynote session, Apple announced a series of features that the iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS updates will bring.
It's not uncommon for Apple to prepare surprise hardware announcements. Like at WWDC 2020 where they announced the M1 chip to replace the Intel chip used in Macs.
Earlier at WWDC 2019, Apple also announced the new Mac Pro, and at WWDC 2017 they announced the HomePod smart speaker, new iMac, and 10.5-inch iPad Pro.
"At its core, WWDC has always been a forum for making connections and building community," said Susan Prescott, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations and Enterprise and Education Marketing.
"In that spirit, WWDC22 invites developers from around the world to come together to explore how to bring their best ideas to life and drive what's possible. We love connecting with our developers, and we hope all of our attendees are excited about their experiences."
At WWDC22, the 30 million developers in the Apple ecosystem will gain insight and access to the technology and tools to make their vision a reality. This year's program also includes more information sessions, state-of-the-art learning labs, digital spaces to interact with participants, and local content to make WWDC22 a truly global event.
In addition to the online conference, the Cupertino tech giant will host a special day for developers and students at Apple Park on June 6 to watch the keynote and State of The Union together. And like the previous year, Apple again held the Swift Student Challenge as its support for students who are already coding.
For this year's challenge, students from around the world are invited to create a Swift Playgrounds app project on a topic of their own choosing, and can submit their work until April 25 at the following link.
